Trick or Treating

Authored by Leandro Delgado While we were trick or treating this year through the neighborhood, I noticed how many of our neighbors had security systems installed in their homes, or at least had the sign out in their yard. I was surprised to see how many neighbors had a system installed, because I never thought of our neighborhood as a high crime area, or that anyone would want to come in here and steal from us. We are just your basic, working class neighborhood. I can’t imagine someone wanting to come in and steal what we have. It did get me thinking, though, that maybe the neighbors aren’t as worried about being robbed as they are some other kind of violence. I mentioned it to my husband, and he said that we should look into getting a home security system as well. It seems sort of extravagant to me, but whatever. I am often behind the times, so I wouldn’t be surprised at all if I was behind the times with this as well. It won’t be the first time, or the last time...
